Founded in 1967 in Seinäjoki by the Nikkarinkoski River, the company name is a play on the Finnish word ‘nikkari’ meaning a cabinetmaker, the name of the area meaning ‘carpenter’s river flow’, and the founder’s own name, Kari Virtanen.
